B. F. Skinner was the guy that can up with behaviorist theories. The operant conditioning concept was built off of the classical conditioning concept founded by the Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov. The difference was that Skinner viewed learning as having a voluntary mental control over their responses and the consequence that has helped shaped future behavior. Skinner says that learning occurs inside the mind and because of that we cannot see someone physically learning, but we can tell by their actions. Skinner believed that learned behavior could be shaped by contingencies of reinforcement. He then used reinforced concepts to develop his programmed learning.
Constructivist learning theory has a few different contributors: John Dewey, Lev Vygotsky, Jean Piaget, Jerome Bruner, and Howard Gardner. Dewey theory was of social activism and that learning is an individual growth that comes through social experience. Vygotsky (scaffolding theory), Piaget (child development theory) and Bruner (Discovery Learning) all believe that learning is cognitive growth through interaction with the environment and culture. Gardner’s theory was multiple intelligences theories and he believes that learning is shaped by innate intelligence. Under that theory he has sub theories: linguistics, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalist.
I think that I will apply this to my class room by rewarding students whose actions are good and not paying all that much attention to students who are acting out (unless they get out of control). That way I think the student will learn that they are only get a lot more attention if the behave and not act out and hopefully will learn from that. I hope to use Constructive learning by having a classroom that will make the children want to learn and will be fun to learn in. I also want to make projects that will get them interacting with other students so they can learn Dewey’s theory. Also I want to use Gardner’s theory by incorporating music, dance, and others that will hopefully cover all of his theories.

The class that I would most likely to teach would be a third grade class. I think this because my third grade was so fun and most memorable to me. Also the children have been in school for a few years and they know what is expected of them. Also it is a time where a lot of what they are learning is brand new stuff. This is the time they learn to write in cursive and they are learning multiplying and dividing and they start into science and social studies. They know how to read and write so they can start to let their imagination run wild and put thoughts together to form and actual story. I believe that teaching and learning is meant to be fun so I would make it fun just like my third grade teacher did for me. I would play games and give them tiny rewards for doing good. I hope the atmosphere in my classroom would be one of happiness and fun. I would never want my student to not be able to talk to me or to be afraid to ask questions...I had teacher like that and didn't learn as much as when I did in my third grade classroom

Also I'm not sure if this matters, but I and everyone in my class were younger when we were started kindergarten. The environment is different because when I look back I always remember a nice room and everyone had their own desks and own space and own books. The classrooms I go in now they have the kids sitting at the same desks and the kids don't even have books anymore. Everything is done by worksheets. I feel that this could present an obstacle. I mean these kids (when we start teaching) will have grown up with this technology in their homes and every classroom. I wouldn't be surprised if by the time I get to teaching if all the kids don't bring their own laptop to school. The kids will know more than the teacher. Its inevitable. Some stagegies that might help student to overcome this particular obstacle is to have teachers take a technology class every few years so they can keep up with the changing technology. When i started high school 5 years ago only colleges (rich ones/ private ones with money) could afford the smart boards and now look high schools and even elementary schools have them...now that was a smart invention!!!

Technology makes it easier to get information, stay in contact. As the saying goes 'everything you want is at your finger tips' and now with the computer and the Internet that is true. You have all these sites that will help you or send you to sites that will help you. Some factors that might make it difficult and will always make stuff difficult is money and time. I want to be a mother someday and I don't know if I could handle a job kids and find time to learn. It seems like it would take a lot of time.

Hi my name is Mary Anoia and I am a sophomore at Lock Haven. I am an Elememtary Education Major. I come from a little town outside of Hershey Pa called Lebanon. I am really into dancing and singing and one day i wish to be on stage doing both. My experience with technology hasn't always been the best. For example right now i am in the Evergreen Common computer lab becsause my computer does want to let me have the internet. I am however pretty ok/good with using programs on the computer (word/excell etc...). other than that I am not an expert on computers In this class I hope to learn more about more programs and be able to learn a little more abut the inner working of the computer.
